My last week

Poco a poco se acercaba el final de mi estadia chez ma soeur---
y TENDRIA que enfrentar, la realidad isleña de nuevo.

Resumire los ultimos acontecimientos.
LLegó la suegra de mi hermana, so i had to sleep in a spare mattress, WHICH turned out to be very very confortable.
DUring that week,30.9.07-7.10.07.

On monday we decided to go to Bondi Junction. There we stopped at the westfields, and discovered the coolest make up store ever. Its called Inglot.
Tienen 200 colores de sombras, un equipo de brochas increible osea i went crazy here. Lo malo fue que descubrimos esto ya cuando nos ibamos para la casa. Pero ese dia por la compra de productos nos ganamos un make over complementario, (Que le vino muy bien a mi hermana el dia de su cumpleaños!)

Despues. el martes teniamos un wine tasting en el Sidney University. El sitio era aperisimo, asi tipo castillo ingles, like Hogwarts! And the tasting was done amongst one of the largest antique colections in the world. We saw mummies, etruscan arts, axes.. etc.. Despues de la degustacion fuimos a cenar a una taqueria en newtown. Very cool, fue bien chistoso ver a Nan comer tacos... she had no idea how!!

oN WEDNesday i cooked dinner. On thursday nació Nicolas, el hijo de marcela! 4. 10.07.
that was in the morning. We already decided to go to the city via train. Me, Chris, and NAn.

So we went driving to Hurstville, and chris didnt know where to park... near the station. wE CHOSE a random park lot and left Helmut there...
Went walking to the station, go on the train to town hall and walk our way out to george st.
Chris needed an tie and a white shirt for his suit, for candy´s wedding.

1st stop. Dymmocks,. Nan wanted a book for lli´s bday.
2 nd. Myers or david jones.. i Dont remember. There we found a shirt but not on size. The sir that helped us called another store that was at the very very end of the city.. And yes me and Chris decided to go walking. Sydney is walking friendly... Its just a straight line

We left Nan there looking for llinis bday gift.We agreed to met there again at 12.30 .

We walked.... Finally got the shirt and the infamous pink tie for a good price. Time is 12.50 and we are very far away.Nan didnt have a cell phone....

when we finally got back it was 5 mins passed 1 pm. Nan wasnt at the store.
She took off and we didnt know where.
We were hungry.
Got down to the ground floor and gto 2 pies. And then cookies.
We walked out and figured that she will be and the art gallery ( our next stop)

On our way we kept looking and did a fotomentary called¨Finding Nano¨ItS VERY FUNNY. Desafortunadamente, dichas fotos estan en la camara de mi hermana todavia...

Al llegar a la galeria, ella estaba sentada en la entrada esperandonos. Dinos un vistazo y fuimos a los Royal Botanic Gardens, donde evidencié la plaga de Flying Foxes que afectan los árboles.

De ahi nos devolvimos a tomar el tren.
LLegamos a casa dejamos a nan y fuimos al hospital a ver a MARCELA y a NICOLAS.

El viernes, llinis y yo fuimos a paddy´s market-Where there´s just about everything. Accesories, lingerie, clothes.. just amazing- I got a couple of stuff.

We had lunch, and then headed to darling harbour for a nice walk. We saw the exposition ¨la tierra desde arriba¨del famoso fotografo frances que no me recuerdo el nombre. Habia una foto de la Rep. Dom!!.

Sabado 6. Lli´s Bday! Got ready and go. First get pretty at inglot´s. Just the make up. Then lunch at ICEBERGs in Bondi Beach. Then a couple of drinks with martha and ricardo ad RAVESSI´S ( it was very cold that day,.. and it rained) Me with a short summer dress.. it was just not fair at all!

We spent a good time there. Then we nibbled something at a little bistro called blue and orange. And we were back at home to eat some cake!!

On sunday i had to make my bags... And on monday i was flying again back..

And here i am after a week of getting my jet lag over.

It's all about the wines.

Weekend sept 28th-30th.07

Hunter Valley.

Hunter Valley is a place known for its vineyards. This place its all about the wine.

Its located outside sydney but it belongs to the same state, New South Wales.

We stayed in a little cottage in Madigans Vineyard. And got ready for some serious wine testing saturday morning.

Everyday in each vineyard, from 10 am to 4 pm, wine testings are held.

Wines from Hunter valley, son reconocidos porque son hechos de manera artesanal. Son vinos que solamente se consiguen en Hunter Valley, no se hacen en grandes producciones industriales, son únicos, y no se venden dique en supermercados asi a lo comercial. Son hasta cierto punto exclusivos.

A la verdad, debo reconocer que im not such a wine person, and this whole trip sounded boring at first.

But i most say i did enjoy the wine testing and i have learned a few things about wine, Which i expect to put on practice soon.

Fuimos a Calais Estate, ahi probamos casi todos los blancos: semillon, viognier,sauvignon blanc, chardonnay,semillon pinot. And the reds: shiraz,pinot noit, cabernet sauvignon,merlot.

They are indeed a lot of differences in flavour, season of pick up, and of course the grapes.

Aqui compramos un paquete mixto, media docena de vinos mas un oporto. 3 blancos, 3 tintos.

Seguimos a moorebank estate al frente. Aqui se especializan en vinos ¨¨orgánicos¨

Que tienen menor porcentaje de los sulfatos añadidos como preservativos.

Here we tried the reds, and got a couple, as well as their famous SPICY GRAPE Sauce. qUe mas adelante usamos en un bbq.

Despues fuimos a Waverley Estate. Este viñedo se caracteriza pq solamente ofrece vinos añejados.

Y vaya la diferencia de sabor es comparable a medida que pasa el tiempo. Se suavizan a mayor tiempo poseen añejados.

Y los mas cómico de este sitio es que poseen a ¨JACK¨ un perro mezclado entre huskie y labrador.

Y este perro esta entrenado para saber si el vino esta bueno o no.

El huele la botella, si no esta bueno la lambe y si esta bueno voltea la cara.

Its impressive jeje.

Here we got mostly reds and i got and oporto. In a very chic bottle.

Lo bueno de todo es que ademas de que pruebas lo que compras, te sale mas barato. Vinos de buena calidad y exclusivos.

Lo que me encanto fue lo mucho que aprendi, ademas de la belleza natural que rodea a Hunter Valley.

Its just breathtaking. Muchos sitios ideales for weddings, because they have little old rock cottages, and chapels with beautiful gardens, creeks and of course vineyards around.

Indeed a place to be and love.!

Ayers' Rock

Thursday sept 20th.07.

The afternoon, despues de la super mega caminata de THe Olgas, fuimos a ver el atardecer at Ayers Rock o como le llaman los aborigenes ULURU. we had champagne, cheese and crackers and the most beautiful scenery. El punto de esto es que de acuerdo a las estaciones y a la posicion del sol , the rock cambia de tonalidades y colores. Sobre todo atardecer y amanecer.

Regresamos al camp site, donde yo taba mas frikia que el diantre que si culebras,arañas etc..Asi que no pude dormir muy bien que digamos. A las 4.40 am nos debiamos de levantar para ver el amanecer at ULURU. At this time of morning it is very cold at the desert, (nights and mornings and in winter) Alice Springs is the place to see all the constelations, y sobre todo aquellas queridas in the southern hemisphere such as the famous "SOUTHERN CROSS" . The night sky was just breathtaking. Pure delight for any neophite in astronomy.

LLegamos y vimos el amanecer at Uluru. Debo mencionar que a través de todo el Northern Territory in Australia existen lugares sagrados para los aborigenes, The olgas y ULURU contienen algunos sitios. Uluru sobre todo es un lugar importante dentro de todo el misticismo aborigen australiano por lo que en muchos sitios a su alrededor no se pueden tomar fotos.

Incluso Ayers Rock antes era famosa pq todo el mundo queria escalarla. Pues Los aborigenes ahora han logrado que eso se reduzca. Ellos no te desmotivan para que no la escales, solo te piden que por respeto hacia ellos y sus creencias no lo hagan. Ademas la subida no es tan facil,es una vaina empinada y resbaladiza que si hace mucho viento, literalmente te pueden tumbar.

Yo mejor decidi hacer la caminata

(9km) chilling, con par de banquitos donde uno sentarse. No prob .

Then we drove all the way to Kings Canyon resort, y un chin mas hacia arriba en un monte, habia otro campamento.

YO DORMI EN UNA SWAG! eSO COMo un sleeping bag. Yo dormi en el desierto a la interperie. Y con los dingos merodeando , a la orilla de una fogata casi extinta jeje.

Next morning, (SAT.22.09.07)
King's Canyon. (6km) of hiking,primero la subida fue horrible. Inside of the mountains they are sand dunes, that was cool to see. And little waterholes where there's a bit of life going. Tambien hay una parte que se llama el jardin de eden, imaginense en medio de una montaña en el desierto un pequeño jardin con higos, cicadas,y pajaros y hasta ranas hay. just AMAZING.
La caminata me mato full. But i love everything i've learned and seen. After that we went back for lunch and then goodbye, each one of the groups back to our hotels in Alice Springs. Me and lli had 3 more days to linger in town. wE HAD DINNer at Bojangles.Thats a-must -go place in Alice Springs, its iconic. Then on sunday we catch the market at todd mall and had dinner at OSCAR'S
Just wonderful food through-out.
The afternoon we visited the CULTURAL PRECINCT.Saw the art gallery. The desert moB exhibition is on.iTS very interesting to see Albert Namatjira's art. He was one of the or the first aboriginal artist.
There was a video playing about the white man who propelled the aboriginal arts. Making it worthy of admiration and making aboriginals proud of doing something outstanding for them and their people.
Them we saw the memorial site, where the first settlers of alice are buried, also the afghanies who were brought as camaliers( llamase camellero...). Very interesting.

aLICE sPRINGS( THE real australian outback)

Me and my sister decided to go to Alice Springs this weekend. Alice Springs is the Australian Outback. Si de ahi es que viene el nombre el restaurante que quebró en Sto. Dgo.

De la casa al aeropuerto cogimos una guagua hasta el tren, un tren hasta rockdale y de ahi el bus 400 hasta el aeropuerto, Ahorrandonos AUD$11.00 de pasaje en el tren ademas de tiempo.
Alice springs pertenece al Northern Territory, and its literally the center of australia, The desert.

Its very ironic the fact that is the only place without water restrictions. This is due basically because theres a water system the runs hundreds of meters underground.So it is just a desert on top.En este territorio se concentra la mayor poblacion de nativos aborigenes australianos. They might be the oldest aboriginal group on earth.

Jueves empieza el tour a ayers rock y kings canyon at 600 am. Our tour guide is virginia and our chef is Bogan. La mayoria del viaje la hicimos en un hibrido camion-guagua bien funny.Recogimos a los demas pasajeros y nos establecimos en el primer camp site en YULARA.
This was for sure a safari on style... (camel ride was optional)

This is our 1st campsite. De ahi partimos a the Olgas. A compilation of hills and valleys. It was very hot that day, and dry everywhere. Pero con todo y que estas en medio de la nada,durante todo el viaje en la carretera y los sitios que visitamos habian baños o facilities available, as well as drinking water, decreasing this way the high risk of dehydration.

(Imaginense ir touristeando nuestro paisito... seria imposible pq no hay agua bebible en muchos lados y baños limpios, es mas baños en general no hay..)

The Olgas where about a 7 km walk or hike in very unconfortable conditions, but manageable. This depicts the end of the trip and before going back to the bus.

Gee i look tired,(damn i was!)

The next part of my trip to alice springs will be for later.

The past weeks!

Australia es un pais ecofriendly and outdoors. For me its hard to believe that They are reaching almost epidemic number when it comes to obesity.Everybody seems to enjoy walking, hiking, being active outdoors and eating healthy.

Al menos yo me la he pasado estas semanas caminando mucho. Conociendo y aprendiendo.

Just soaking everything.

Como todo pais organizado , hay un transporte publico que funciona, sobre todo los trenes, se puede caminar tranquilo sin temor a que un motorista suba la acera para arrancarle a una la cartera o el celulaR. A mi me encantan los trenes. Ahora todo es al reves de como uno piensa...

. Vamos a recorrer un poco estos dias.

Monday sept 10.

Cronulla beach. Walk. Ahi me tome la foto que encabeza este post. Caminamos todo el beach line( la cual un lunes dia de trabajo a las 10 am ' taba full de gente osea) y nos devolvimos para almorzar en el Mall que es como el Conde, una calle peatonal con tiendas. Ahi fuimos al sushi train. Y este restorante se caracteriza pq literalmente los comensales se sientan alrededor de una correa que gira con diferentes rollos que preparan a la vista. Se escogen los que le apetezcany se paga de acuerdo al color del plato. Ej. los platos rosados son AUD$ 2.50 y el naranja vale 5.00.

Despues de ahi chequeamos par de tiendecillas y nos antojamos de un helado en COLD ROCKS.

As you can see in the picture below, in this shop, you can make flavours. Ej. yo pedi una bola de helado de caramel cakepudding and i mix in some choc chip cookie dough.My sister chose dark chocolate with milky way chocolate mix in there.And that is what this lady is doing, mixing in the add ons. jeje Demasiado cool.!

Ya en la noche teniamos una cita con un amigo de mi hermana para hacer indoor rockclimbing.El sitio es inmenso y super alto and very challenging. I love it.. Mas foticos everybody!

Tuesday 11, fue un chin medical oriented.

My sister got me an appointment with one of the Gastroenterology residents she works with.

This doctor took her time to kindly explainme or let's say answer my questions regarding Australian Medical Residency program. The truth is it sound very good and Australia is far much better than US as a country. But It is just to much waiting!!

Almost 2 years more of what i've planned/

Although the perks are noticeable. Beaatiful country, people, educated, more money and more holidays.

And a better retirement plan. Pero claro yo siempre toy pensando en volver pa la isla. Siempre.

Anyways eso fue el highlight del martes.

Wednesday and thursday basically lo que hice fue coge guagua y tren y conocer on my own. This city is tourist friendly too. Once you let go off the jet lag. Fui al museo de la ciudad de Sydney(which is not the capital, Canberra is) de ahi me fui a uno de los tantos parques a comer y leer un libro debajo de un arbol. bien conforting. Aqui me comence a leer el libro The Secret, which iwould write about later. Pero tambien me he comprado la serie Stephenie Meyer. TWILIGHT, NEW MOON AND ECLIPSE.aBOUT VAMPIRES!Eclipse ha desplazado el ultimo de Harry potter from the teenage best selling list as no.1/ So ya saben...

El jueves los amigos de mi hermana Martha y Ricardo me hicieron una cena en su casa. Very Very good. Unfortunately the pictures are N.A.

El sabado 15.

Aqui fue que yo camine de verdad. Pues we went to the BLUE MOUNTAINS. tHE REAL ONES. They called like this because the deep color of the forest that covers them turns sort of blue with the sunlight.

We when hiking or, bush walking throught out the mountain trails. At the beginning i had trouble with my breathing going up, but i did it. It is beautiful up there.we also saw the waterfalls just breathtaking.

After lunch we headed towards the jenolan caves. (Im afraid of narrow out of oxygen places) so i was a bit reluctant. However they turned out to be very huge caves and sometimes spacious.

They are full of crystals and salts.Very interesting, cold and wet. After that time to go back home and have dinner.

Sunday 16th.

The sun is shinning and the wind is peferct to go on the Boat Merengue for a nice ride and lunch around the coast. We got al the way to cronulla,( even i got to drive) and then return to find a place to anchor and have lunch. Y justo encontramos uno con la vista en el parque donde mi hermana se caso hace 5años y coincidencialmente tenian una boda. Asi que nos quedamos como pendencieros viendo la boda. Y con nosotros como 4 botes mas y cuando se besaron los novios, todos los botes tocaron sus cornetes!

Very funny that.

Monday sep 17th. Opera night at Sydney's Opera House. Yes i got that priviledge. We all got fancy up and headed there earlier in order to eat dinner first.We saw "les contes de Hoffmann", very interesting and thank GOD in french, so i could understand some.

yES I'VE been all around the place. alone or with my family but still having fun.

The land Down Under

Para muchos una sorpresa.Para mi una emocion extra para culminar mi lista de achievements.

after 5 yrs of my first visit to Australia, i finally had enough time to come back.

This time it is different.

Im older, im a doctor. Im traveling alone. Yes alone! 3 AIRPLANES, 3 HOUR CHANGES and one day of difference because we crossed the international date line. and theres a new house, car and boat to see.

En los dias previos a mi viaje al fin del mundo,debo confesar que estaba

bien nerviosa, emocionada, con un presentimiento.

Hice mi maleta, con mas regalos para mi hermana que mi ropa...

Primera vez en mi vida que llego tarde al aeropuerto y casi pierdo mi primer vuelo.( El de miami) Pero Gracias a DIOS!!! que no. En miami tuve que abrir la maleta, thank God yo no llevaba nada de comida.

Luego los angeles..... Mierquina tuve que esperar 9 horas ahi.. haciendo na. Comi en chili's un southwestern egg roll( muy caliente y picante)

Gaste 60 dolares en esas 9 horas, Llame a papi 2 veces, me compre un libro , escuche Tiesto in search of sunrise 2 y 3 y dike trate de dormir.

De miami a L.A. son 3 horas de diferencia en horario. vi ocean's 13 en el avion.

El viaje de L.A a Sidney: Quantas( la linea aerea australiana) is very good, pero no me dieron mi confort kit con mi cepillo de dientes, asi que tuve que comprarme , precavidamente un mouthwash para mantenerlos limpios. Vi en el avion como 4 peliculas: In the land of women, Shrek the third, fantastic four 2.Hice un playlist con la musica de los cds que ellos tienen en su cd library. I tried to sleep in those 16 hours of flight. Fui al baño como 10 veces.

En resumen , en 3 aviones, un dia y medio de vuelo y 14 horas de diferencias yo comi como 20 veces, lei 3 veces, fui al baño como 24 veces, me lave la cara 3 veces y me enjuague la boca 4 veces, hasta finalmente llegar al aeropuerto de sidney a las 6 am del viernes 7 de septiembre.

Aperisimo!!!

Hasta que me dio el frio en la cara.

oH SI.. sobre todo... y mas para mi que solo traje ropa de verano.. yo nada mas me jodi. Y muchos zapatos altos y ropa de salir..

Mi hermana me prestara sus abrigos y sus tshirts... Y yo me las bandeare como pueda //

Ese mismo dia

Aqui ya me tenian un schedule listo.

Asi que fuimos mi hermana, mi cuñado, sus hijos y sus esposas, la nieta y yo a un paseo en el bote " Merengue"

Primera vez que me monto en un bote en un dia con un solemne aguacero.

Yo me iba a morir de la hipotermia.

dE ESo no hay fotos. pq el dia taba feo..

Y el jet lag taba en susz buenas!!

Nos mojamos full. we had lunch and then we came back to the house.

Saturday was a Baby shower for one of my sisters friends here in the house. Woke up and do groceries shopping.

Para cruzar la calle hay que mirar a la derecha primero!!!! pa que no te maten.

aqui la gente es decente todavia, el indice de criminalidad creo que anda entre 1-2%, people are ecofriendly. They love animals, and outdoors. Food is great so far. Sin embargo mi hermana me tiene sin sal y sin azucar!! Osea! quejeto...

Im still very excited.. iM gONNa be on my own for a few days.

I'll be travelling to certain places here in Australia. aND iM HAPPy.

The end of the journey.

5 years went so fast...

I remember the whole college process...

El último año de bachillerato, se pasó básicamente en planes de graduación y en búsqueda de la universidad en donde sea mejor mi carrera, una vez me había decidido por medicina.


Tenía 2 opciones:

1. Intec,la cual me ofrecia una beca por el Programa Intec con los estudiantes Sobresalientes (PIES).
2. UNIBE. Más CARA, Más Comemierda y SUPUESTAMENTE UN bonche!!!
   

Por razones tales como seguridad y mejores instalaciones, la balanza se inclinó por UNIBE.

A tomar el ¨infame ¨examen de admision. Ese dia conoci a par de mis futuros compañeros, que ya hoy llamo colegas.

Day one was like back in high school... Even worse it was like the first time ever in school.

Me reencontre con Rosa y Maruel, dos compañeras del colegio

Maureen Comarazamy sentada en el escritorio preguntandole a todo el mundo nombre y colegio.
In such way we got to meet each other.

Cada Cuatrimestre cambiabamos de grupo, por alguna u otra razon.
Maruel y Yo siempre tuvimos juntas.

El primer año fue un chuflay...
Hasta organica y seminario y estar con gente locaaaaa!!!

Embrio fue un quicio con el dr. Lama.
Después la Mega Costume PaRTY EN mi casa.... Diache eso fue lo mejor
Seguir conociendo gente.Los compañeros se fueron haciendo amigos, y otros enemigos.

El 3er año fue el PEOR. 3 PALABRAS: Farmaco, patologia 1-2 y microbiologia...
Preinternado : conoci gente que resultaron ser buenos amigos, otros que probaron mi paciencia y capacidad de aguante, y muchos otros que realmente no sirven.

Durante esos 3 periodos de preinternado, we create the bound of saving everybody´s asses. It was not the most trasparent for some. But At Least i was not gonna lose the posibility of having a better grade....

Año de Internado.
Los grupos se rompieron.
Se perdió el contacto.
Iniciaron los servicios y las entregas de guardia.

Medicina Interna en el gautier... El grupo de los supervivientes: Abhinay, Marissa, Ciriaco, Victor Manuel,Cinthya, Niurka, Jessica, Maruel, Harving, Giselle y yo.

cirugia y psiquiatria en miami... The coolest 4 months ever, pero also the slackest ones. Miami its a party city.Yeap i did learn somethings or 2...


Peds y ob Gyn: Un grupo de extranjeros, Thais y Yo. Robert Reid y Maternidad del IDSS.

El último.. Ya uno lo que ta pensando en terminar... Peds fue pesado.. Im definitely not being one.
